Despite the problems that prevented me from fully falling in love with Warbreaker as I did with Skyward, this was a heartwarming story with good, clean banter, effective prose, and a few slick twists that made me ashamed of relying on first impressions.

There are no new ideas here. Don't be fooled by the Chinese aesthetic--the story is the same betrayed exile fighting for her birthright, gathering allies in unexpected places that you see all too often in YA fantasy.
When it comes to them, bad isn't just cool. It's understandable. It's worth rooting for. Maybe, sometimes, if you let the boundaries blur enough, it's even right.
